Frances Beinecke is president of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), an environmental action group that works to protect the planet’s wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. From 1998 to 2005 she served as NRDC’s executive director and has been with the group for more than 30 years. She has also held leadership roles in many other environmental organizations, including the World Resources Institute, the Energy Future Coalition, Conservation International's Center for Environmental Leadership in Business, the China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development, and the American Conservation Association. In addition, she co-chairs the Leadership Council of the Yale School of Forestry.
