Margaret Leinen

Chief Science Officer, Climos

Margaret Leinen is chief science officer at Climos, a climate company dedicated to leveraging natural processes to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Previously, she served as assistant director for geosciences at the National Science Foundation, supporting basic research in atmosphere, earth, and ocean sciences at universities and research institutions. She also coordinated environmental science, engineering, and education programs as well as ocean science, global change science, and environmental collaborations with other federal agencies. A past president of the Oceanography Society, she was dean of the graduate school of oceanography and vice provost for marine and environmental programs at the University of Rhode Island.
